I am an animal lover. I own three lovely dogs and two gorgeous cats. I work with the wildlife conservation NGO Satpuda Foundation in the tiger reserves of central India. Before that I worked for 14 years with the street dogs of Mumbai. I created and manage the Indian Pariah Dog Club.

This blog is for aboriginal breed enthusiasts and for the Indian Pariah Dog Club. Membership of the Club is restricted to Pariah Dogs and mongrels (mix-breeds) only. The two are NOT the same, do please read the text on the right to understand the difference. Our aim: to create awareness about the primitive natural breed cynologists call the Indian Pariah Dog/INDog. The Club is an informal group. It has over 160 members, from Mumbai and other cities.

Tommy

This is Tommy from Jalgaon (not to be confused with Tommy from Mumbai, who belongs to Dr Manik Godbole). This Tommy belongs to Sanket Patil and her family.

Last year when the family's new house was being built, Tommy appeared from somewhere and took up residence at the construction site. He was a puppy then, and he was always very pleased to see them when they visited the site. Once construction was over he was taken into the house and became their pet and family member. He is extremely intelligent and also very obedient, and is specially devoted to Sanket's mother. He seems to have an uncanny understanding of language and they are all amazed by his knowledge of so many words and the way he follows all Mrs Patil's instructions.

Sanket has been in the Netherlands for several months and is naturally missing Tommy a lot - but her studies will soon be over and she will be home with him again in June.
